This isn't some sweet dream.
No,
the morning sun's already baking my face.
I'll rise soon but not quite yet.
No...
Nor is it some wild animal come to chew
at the soles of my feet.
I bunch the sheets up beneath my head
and shut my eyes yet again.
Soon I'll be dreaming of fire.
Real fire.
Lapping like a tide at my skin,
on down to within.
